​It's Summer! Festivals and fêtes are everywhere but there's nothing like the Galactic Fête: come and indulge in the merry of mixing space and art for a weekend. However old you are. Come on in, apply your creativity and take a piece of space home with you this summer.

Adorable Cats, Admirable Space and You. 
The well loved children's book illustrator and an associate lecturer on the Illustration BA of Plymouth Uni, Viv Schwarz, is coming in to treat us to a space themed portrait session. They say cat took over the internet; Viv is going to help them and you to spread to space: You, as a cat, in space! If you cannot sit still, Viv, is a super speed illustrator.

Price: £10 per portrait (can draw family in one portrait)

Learn to Make Spacecraft - Launchers: DIY Spacecraft Controls
Bring laptop if you want to join the hands on experience to understanding rockets. Lead by entrepreneur Ray Bainbridge, we'll be doing hands on learning on spacecraft controls. This is not the first one and is not the last one, join in anyways for a day!

Pluto and Charon - A Planetary Waltz (2015) 
Inspired by New Horizons space mission's Pluto fly-by event this year, two contemporary classical music composers Catherine Kontz  and Minna Orvokki Nygren explore the unusual relationship between the icy planet Pluto and its largest moon Charon through this piece of music. Commissioned by the Centre for Planetary Sciences UCL/Birkbeck, premièred recently.

Screenprint Your Extraterrestrial Beauty 
Join Jairo and Nicola to create mutant cats, otherworldly creatures or your own extraterrestrial beauty through the medium of screenprinting. You will also be able to take your creations away with you on the same day.

Paint a planet to hang in your room using baubles & acrylic paint. Can Christmas be too far away?! Create Space London's ceramicist, Picazzo will show you how.

Join Will Selwood, a member of Newbury Amateur Astronomy Society and software developer on processing asteroid data, to see the moon up close, find out how a telescope works, try and work out where you want to land. We hope to make the solar system a little closer to home.

DIY Spacecraft - Satellites: Vernissage on a Future Your Nano-Satellite
There will be a demo, a preview on a satellite that you can DIY - first in the UK, of the PocketQube variety. There maybe a chance to get hands on if you bring your laptop, but the team behind it is waiting for delivery of the workshop parts - demo is definitely on!
